Unfolding like a quiet terrain shaped by fire and time, this ceramic Yam cup carries the raw poetry of wood-fired stoneware in its surface and form. The gently swelling silhouette feels natural and comforting in the hand, shaped slowly to preserve subtle shifts that make each piece feel instinctive rather than exact. Soft tones of warm sand, pale ash, and ember-kissed clay gather across the surface like traces of weathered rock, guided by a painterly sensibility where clay becomes a record of touch, movement, and memory. Crafted in stoneware and wood-fired, the cup is shaped by wandering flames, settling ash, and shifting kiln atmospheres, creating natural flashing, layered textures, and markings that can never be repeated. Ideal for tea, sake, espresso, or slow reflective sipping, the form brings warmth, tactility, and a sense of grounded calm into everyday rituals.

Process & Craft
Each yam cup is handmade by master craftspeople using traditional studio pottery methods, beginning with wheel-thrown forms shaped from unique clay mixes prepared in-house. Natural, mineral-rich glazes are applied by hand, drawing from Japanese Mingei and Korean Buncheong influences that guide the studio’s design sensibility. Fired at nearly 1300°C, the stoneware develops remarkable strength and a glaze surface shaped by the dynamic play of fire, ash, and high-temperature reactions inside the kiln. Every piece is quietly distinct — a reflection of the kiln’s temperament, the hands that shaped it, and the experienced designers who curate its final aesthetic.
Sustainability Practices
Made in serene, low-waste pottery studios that prioritize mindful production. All materials used — clays, glazes, oxides — are natural and non-toxic. High-temperature firing ensures long product life, reducing breakage and replacement cycles. Crafted in small batches to support ethical production and minimize overconsumption. Each mug embodies a slow craft philosophy, valuing longevity over mass production.
