Cradling subtle movement and quiet warmth within its form, this ceramic Yam cup reveals the gentle poetry of wood-fired stoneware. The softly rounded silhouette feels calm and reassuring in the hand, shaped slowly to preserve the natural shifts that make each piece feel intimate and alive. Soft waves of warm sand, pale ash, and muted clay drift across the surface like traces of wind on stone, guided by a painterly sensibility where clay becomes a record of touch, time, and memory. Crafted in stoneware and wood-fired, the cup is shaped by wandering flames, settling ash, and shifting kiln atmospheres, creating natural flashing, delicate textures, and markings that can never be repeated. Ideal for tea, sake, espresso, or moments of mindful pause, the form brings a sense of softness, tactility, and quiet presence into everyday rituals.

Process & Craft
Each yam cup is handmade by master craftspeople using traditional studio pottery methods, beginning with wheel-thrown forms shaped from unique clay mixes prepared in-house. Natural, mineral-rich glazes are applied by hand, drawing from Japanese Mingei and Korean Buncheong influences that guide the studio’s design sensibility. Fired at nearly 1300°C, the stoneware develops remarkable strength and a glaze surface shaped by the dynamic play of fire, ash, and high-temperature reactions inside the kiln. Every piece is quietly distinct — a reflection of the kiln’s temperament, the hands that shaped it, and the experienced designers who curate its final aesthetic.
Sustainability Practices
Made in serene, low-waste pottery studios that prioritize mindful production. All materials used — clays, glazes, oxides — are natural and non-toxic. High-temperature firing ensures long product life, reducing breakage and replacement cycles. Crafted in small batches to support ethical production and minimize overconsumption. Each mug embodies a slow craft philosophy, valuing longevity over mass production.
