Defined by an arresting, singular sweep of color cutting through a textured sandy backdrop, this minimalist cylinder vase from our Adwai collection functions as an immediate conversational anchor. Dropping the usual flared conventions, this piece embraces a bold, uniform columnar shape that rises straight from its base to a perfectly circular opening, creating an uncompromising architectural statement.
The exterior acts as a striking canvas for element-driven abstract graphics. A fine-grained, matte-satin beige glaze wraps the entire exterior cylinder, heavily peppered with warm, dark iron specks that naturally effervesce from the raw clay during the firing process. Tearing through this serene backdrop is a fluid, calligraphic trail of unglazed, iron-rich sienna slip that winds down the spine of the column like a winding desert canyon path. The contrast is framed elegantly at the top, where a smooth, glossy dark chocolate liner glaze slips over the flat, rounded rim to coat the interior walls.
Crafted with intentional wall thickness, this heavy stoneware cylinder offers a dense, robust foundation that counterbalances long-stemmed arrangements, ensuring structural stability without ever losing its clean, graphic edge.

Process & Craft
Shaping this tall column demands a master potter's precise touch on the wheel, where local stoneware clay must be pulled upward with uniform thickness to maintain a perfectly perpendicular, unwarped profile. Once dried to a leather-hard state, the raw column is subjected to a demanding 20-hour vitrification process at 1300°C inside a wood-fired kiln, forging an exceptionally durable, non-porous stoneware body. Following the initial cooling, the artisan coats the column in a signature titanium-beige mineral glaze, then uses a broad brush to sweeping, gestural strokes of raw iron oxide slip across the silhouette. The piece is then returned to the extreme reduction atmosphere of the final firing, fusing the glaze and scorching the raw slip into a matte-sienna texture that varies inherently with every piece.
Sustainability Practices
Made in serene, low-waste pottery studios that prioritize mindful production. All materials used — clays, glazes, oxides — are natural and non-toxic. High-temperature firing ensures long product life, reducing breakage and replacement cycles. Crafted in small batches to support ethical production and minimize overconsumption. Each mug embodies a slow craft philosophy, valuing longevity over mass production.
