Bringing the contemplative atmosphere of a midnight coastline to your personal beverage rituals, this hand-thrown carafe and matching tumbler set from our Adwai collection is designed for serving warm sake, bedside water, or spirits. The carafe features a voluptuous, teardrop-shaped base that narrows into an elegant, slender neck before flaring gently at the rim for a smooth, dripless pour. Accompanying it is a perfectly proportioned, handleless cup featuring a subtly contoured waist that sits comfortably nestled within the palm of your hand.
The set showcases a deeply layered, high-contrast mineral finish where dark elements meet fluid color. The lower bodies are enveloped in a glass-smooth, ultra-glossy obsidian black glaze that reflects light like polished volcanic stone. Near the neck of the flask and wrapping the entire exterior of the cup, a mossy teal-blue and slate grey glaze takes over, creating a heavily mottled, stippled texture that mimics a misty horizon. The interiors are finished with a smooth chocolate-brown liner glaze, providing an attractive, rich contrast whenever a drink is poured.
Formed from high-density stoneware clay, both pieces offer excellent thermal inertia, keeping your warm sake or chilled drinks at their ideal serving temperature for longer periods.

Process & Craft
Throwing a narrow-necked flask demands great technical skill on the wheel, as the potter must slowly constrict the spinning clay wall inward without collapsing the hollow, wide-bellied chamber below. The matching cup is thrown alongside to guarantee proportional harmony in both weight and profile. After undergoing an initial bisque firing, the pieces are carefully dipped in a deep iron-black base formula before a secondary, highly reactive titanium-cobalt glaze is applied to the upper portions. The set is then fired together at 1300°C in a wood-reduction kiln for 20 hours, causing the two distinct glaze zones to run and blend into a seamless, organic gradient unique to each set.
