Bursting with warmth and movement, this ceramic Yam cup captures the lively, unpredictable beauty of wood-fired stoneware. The gently flared form feels animated yet balanced in the hand, shaped slowly to preserve the subtle shifts that give each piece its own personality. Swirls of fiery orange, ember red, and smoky charcoal flow across the surface like sparks in motion, guided by a painterly sensibility where clay becomes a record of energy and time. Crafted in stoneware and wood-fired, the cup is shaped by flames, drifting ash, and shifting kiln atmospheres, creating natural flashing, layered depth, and markings that can never be repeated. Ideal for tea, sake, espresso, or slow, sensory sipping, the form brings warmth, vibrancy, and a tactile joy to everyday rituals.

Process & Craft
Each yam cup is handmade by master craftspeople using traditional studio pottery methods, beginning with wheel-thrown forms shaped from unique clay mixes prepared in-house. Natural, mineral-rich glazes are applied by hand, drawing from Japanese Mingei and Korean Buncheong influences that guide the studio’s design sensibility. Fired at nearly 1300°C, the stoneware develops remarkable strength and a glaze surface shaped by the dynamic play of fire, ash, and high-temperature reactions inside the kiln. Every piece is quietly distinct — a reflection of the kiln’s temperament, the hands that shaped it, and the experienced designers who curate its final aesthetic.
Sustainability Practices
Made in serene, low-waste pottery studios that prioritize mindful production. All materials used — clays, glazes, oxides — are natural and non-toxic. High-temperature firing ensures long product life, reducing breakage and replacement cycles. Crafted in small batches to support ethical production and minimize overconsumption. Each mug embodies a slow craft philosophy, valuing longevity over mass production.
