Shaped within the lineage of South India’s pioneering studio pottery movement, this handcrafted mug carries forward a tradition rooted in wood-firing, hand-mixed clays, and decades of ceramic apprenticeship. Wheel-thrown with a steady, organic rhythm, its form preserves the quiet mark of the maker. Drawing inspiration from Japanese pottery—especially its wabi-sabi philosophy

The piece embraces natural variation, subtle asymmetry, and the poetry of imperfection. The cool blue-green glaze echoes earth and sea, developing layered tonal shifts as it interacts with fire and ash during high-temperature firing. Each firing cycle creates unique speckles and gradients, making every mug one of a kind.

Designed for daily rituals, its balanced weight and soft rim elevate everything from morning chai to slow-brewed coffee. A timeless piece that celebrates colour, craft, and centuries-old ceramic heritage.

Process & Craft

Each mug is handmade by master craftspeople using traditional studio pottery methods, beginning with wheel-thrown forms shaped from unique clay mixes prepared in-house. Natural, mineral-rich glazes are applied by hand, drawing from Japanese Mingei and Korean Buncheong influences that guide the studio’s design sensibility. Fired at nearly 1300°C, the stoneware develops remarkable strength and a glaze surface shaped by the dynamic play of fire, ash, and high-temperature reactions inside the kiln. Every piece is quietly distinct — a reflection of the kiln’s temperament, the hands that shaped it, and the experienced designers who curate its final aesthetic.

Sustainability Practices

Made in serene, low-waste pottery studios that prioritize mindful production. All materials used — clays, glazes, oxides — are natural and non-toxic. High-temperature firing ensures long product life, reducing breakage and replacement cycles. Crafted in small batches to support ethical production and minimize overconsumption. Each mug embodies a slow craft philosophy, valuing longevity over mass production.
