The set consists of a beautifully proportioned carafe paired with a matching handleless cup. The carafe features a full, teardrop silhouette that cinches at the neck before gently opening into a flared rim optimized for a smooth, controlled pour. The accompanying cup mirrors this organic form, contoured to rest comfortably and securely within the palm.
The exterior presents a highly graphic, tactile glaze design inspired by layers of earth and shadow. A lustrous, golden amber-ochre base glaze wraps the stoneware bodies, punctuated by thick, contrasting bands of rich obsidian black that wrap horizontally around the midsections. Within these dark horizons, raw calligraphic gestures loop across the surface, creating an abstract rhythm. A high-gloss black liner glaze flows over the rims to completely coat the interior walls, offering a striking visual contrast to the liquids served within.

Process & Craft
Saping the elegant, constricted neck of this vessel requires a delicate calibration of speed and pressure on the potter's wheel, pulling the stoneware clay upward before steadily compressing it inward to create the elegant pouring spout. The coordinating tumbler is thrown alongside it to maintain a shared aesthetic weight and scale. After an initial bisque firing to set the clay structure, the artisan hand-dips each piece into an iron-rich amber glaze matrix. Utilizing a spinning banding wheel, thick ribbons of concentrated black cobalt-iron slip are fluidly brushed across the body. A final 20-hour firing inside a wood reduction kiln at 1300°C vitrifies the stoneware, forcing the mineral layers to fuse and giving the black bands their signature smoky, bleeding edges.
