Carrying the quiet intimacy of everyday rituals, this ceramic Yam cup draws from India’s long lineage of utilitarian pottery while embracing the raw beauty of wood-fired surfaces. The softly rounded form sits naturally in the hand, shaped slowly to preserve subtle shifts in curve and thickness that make each sip feel personal. Warm tones of sand, ember, and soft ash drift across the surface like traces of flame and time, guided by a painterly sensibility where clay becomes both medium and memory. Crafted in stoneware and wood-fired, the surface is shaped by moving flame, falling ash, and shifting kiln atmospheres, creating natural flashing, gentle textures, and markings that can never be repeated. Ideal for tea, sake, espresso, or mindful sipping, the cup brings warmth, tactility, and a grounded presence to slow moments, inviting pause through touch and material alone.

Process & Craft
Each yam cup is handmade by master craftspeople using traditional studio pottery methods, beginning with wheel-thrown forms shaped from unique clay mixes prepared in-house. Natural, mineral-rich glazes are applied by hand, drawing from Japanese Mingei and Korean Buncheong influences that guide the studio’s design sensibility. Fired at nearly 1300°C, the stoneware develops remarkable strength and a glaze surface shaped by the dynamic play of fire, ash, and high-temperature reactions inside the kiln. Every piece is quietly distinct — a reflection of the kiln’s temperament, the hands that shaped it, and the experienced designers who curate its final aesthetic.
Sustainability Practices
Made in serene, low-waste pottery studios that prioritize mindful production. All materials used — clays, glazes, oxides — are natural and non-toxic. High-temperature firing ensures long product life, reducing breakage and replacement cycles. Crafted in small batches to support ethical production and minimize overconsumption. Each mug embodies a slow craft philosophy, valuing longevity over mass production.
