Embodying a quiet, weathered serenity, this structural cylinder vase from our Adwai collection shifts the focal point to raw texture and gradient tone rather than loud graphics. Standing as a perfectly straight, unembellished stone-like pillar, it discards traditional curves to let the natural interplay of minerals under high heat speak for itself.

The captivating outer surface replicates a heavily weathered sandstone formation. A finely textured, matte off-white and sandy-beige glaze envelops the exterior column, deeply saturated with a dense, organic spray of dark iron speckles that creates a beautifully tactile, stippled appearance. Near the upper rim, a subtle collar of toasted iron-brown frames the opening, melting smoothly into a rich, dark chocolate interior liner glaze that runs down the inside walls.

Engineered from dense stoneware clay, this cylinder offers a substantial weight and lower center of gravity, providing an incredibly stable house for tall reeds, heavy foliage, or dramatic architectural branches.

Process & Craft

Coaxing this monolithic, straight-sided pillar from the wheel requires a firm, steady hand to prevent the tall clay walls from collapsing or losing their vertical precision. After being thrown from local stoneware clay and dried to a tough leather-hard consistency, the piece undergoes an intense 20-hour vitrification process at 1300°C inside a traditional wood-fired kiln. Once cooled, the exterior is misted with a custom, high-iron titanium matte glaze that allows the underlying mineral impurities to forcefully erupt into dark freckles during the final firing. This volatile reduction process ensures that the gradient and speckle density on every single column remains entirely unique.

Sustainability Practices

Made in serene, low-waste pottery studios that prioritize mindful production. All materials used — clays, glazes, oxides — are natural and non-toxic. High-temperature firing ensures long product life, reducing breakage and replacement cycles. Crafted in small batches to support ethical production and minimize overconsumption. Each mug embodies a slow craft philosophy, valuing longevity over mass production.
