A celebration of intentional mass and pure utility, this heavy-set mug is designed under the ethos of the Avyaj Collection to ground our daily pauses in striking, unadorned beauty. The slightly tapered, architectural cylinder draws inspiration from traditional, heavy-bottomed earthenware tankards, balancing an honest, ancestral weight with a clean, modern restraint that elevates any casual tabletop setting.
The surface treatment presents a dramatic study in dark, moody gradients and natural alchemy. A deep, near-black iron oxide base slowly transitions into a rich, stippled olive green glaze around the upper rim, mimicking the quiet depth of a forest floor at dusk. The interior is lined with a deep, smooth dark glaze, creating an intimate contrast that beautifully cradles whatever liquid sits within.
Engineered for sturdy, everyday utilitarian use, this vessel acts as the perfect companion for cold brews, local ales, or iced teas. It features a sweeping, robust loop handle complete with a hand-sculpted thumb-rest at the apex and a subtle finger-anchor at the base, ensuring an exceptionally balanced, comfortable grip that slows down the act of drinking into an immersive, haptic experience.

Process & Craft
Meticulously hand-thrown using an iron-rich blend of local Indian stoneware clays, this mug undergoes a transformative 18-hour journey within our traditional wood-fired kiln. Reaching peak temperatures of 1300°C, the piece is seasoned by the combustion of Casuarina wood while its volatile fly-ash circulates throughout the chamber. The ash reacts with the high-mineral slips to create a subtle, glass-like stippling and unpredictable runs that track across the smooth ceramic skin. The natural path of the flame and the heavy concentration of iron at the base ensure that each vessel emerges from the heat with a singular, non-replicable patina.
