Striking a perfect balance between culinary function and deep, moody aesthetics, this covered keeper from our Adwai collection redefines tableside storage. Designed with a wide, low-profile stature, the heavy base features a flat interior floor maximizing horizontal room for stacking items while keeping a small footprint on the table. A high-domed lid rests flush against the secure inner lip of the basin, topped with a short, neatly flanged circular knob that provides a steady grip for revealing warm contents.

The glaze application transforms this practical kitchen staple into a mesmerizing, glass-like statement piece. A rich, high-gloss teal-blue base coat is swirled with a fine, mottled mist of charcoal grey and deep sea green, mirroring the complex depth of cosmic night skies or oceanic trenches. Under the intense heat of the kiln, the multi-toned glaze breaks over the edges and crevices into subtle dark chocolate boundaries, defining the crisp geometric shape. The interior is fully vitrified with a smooth, non-porous liner glaze, making it highly stain-resistant and exceptionally easy to wipe down.

Constructed from dense, thick-walled stoneware clay, it acts as an outstanding natural heat insulator, ensuring your flatbreads, pancakes, or tortillas stay perfectly soft and hot throughout long dinners.

Process & Craft

Capturing the fluid complexity of this dark, mineral-rich finish requires advanced glaze chemistry and a master artisan’s command over the wheel's rotation. The process begins by centering a broad mound of local stoneware clay, flattening it out into a wide disk, and pulling up short, vertical walls with uniform density to prevent the base from warping during drying. After a meticulous leather-hard trimming stage, the matching lid is thrown to ensure an exact, seamless fit. Following a 900°C bisque firing, the piece is dipped and layered with a complex, high-iron cobalt and copper glaze formula. It is then loaded into a traditional wood-fired kiln for a grueling 20-hour cycle at 1300°C, where the extreme reduction environment forces the minerals to bubble, shift, and fuse into a deeply layered, unrepeatable crystalline patina.

Sustainability Practices

Made in serene, low-waste pottery studios that prioritize mindful production. All materials used — clays, glazes, oxides — are natural and non-toxic. High-temperature firing ensures long product life, reducing breakage and replacement cycles. Crafted in small batches to support ethical production and minimize overconsumption. Each mug embodies a slow craft philosophy, valuing longevity over mass production.
