The exterior is enveloped in a smooth, high-gloss pale blue-grey glaze that evokes the cool tones of compressed glacial ice or misty winter skies. Throughout the glassy finish, a delicate dusting of fine iron speckles rises gently from the underlying clay body, lending a subtle organic texture to the minimalist form. Where the glaze pulls thin over the lid's knob and the perimeter rims, it burns into a warm, toasted earth-brown line that contrasts handsomely with the pale, cool body. Bringing this compact, straight-sided form to life requires a disciplined approach on the potter's wheel, ensuring the vertical walls are pulled with uniform thickness from the base up to the delicate inner rim gallery. Once the cylinder jar and its complementary high-domed lid are thrown and turned to their final profiles, the pieces are allowed to dry to a firm, leather-hard state for precision base trimming. The artisan then bathes the stoneware in a custom mineral formula rich in titanium and iron traces. The piece is then subjected to a rigorous 20-hour reduction cycle at 1300°C inside a wood-fired kiln, where the chemical reaction transforms the raw glaze into a glossy, pale celadon-esque blue patina unique to every firing.
