Capturing the quiet mystery of a dense forest floor beneath a moonless sky, this dramatically structured pitcher from our Adwai collection brings a touch of nocturnal elegance to your table service. The silhouette stands out with a generous, low-slung bulbous belly that tapers sharply into a defined neck, crowned by an elegantly sculpted, drip-free pouring lip. Balanced on the opposite side, a thick, beautifully curved loop handle arches seamlessly from the top rim down to the mid-body, providing a sturdy, reassuring weight in the hand.
The exterior glaze mimics the deep, velvety shadows of the late-night hours. At first glance, the body appears clad in an intense, near-black obsidian sheen, but as the light catches the rounded curves, it reveals a complex, multi-layered dark forest green undercurrent—like moonlight filtering through thick leaves. Process & Craft
Emerging from a focus on intense heat reduction and dramatic, dark finishes, the story of this vessel begins on the potter's wheel where raw Indian stoneware clay is thrown into its volumetric shape before the artist hand-pulls and welds the thick side handle directly to the body. The piece undergoes a challenging 20-hour wood-firing process at 1300°C to achieve a fully vitrified, exceptionally durable core. Following this, the cooled vessel is completely submerged in a specialized, iron-and-copper rich mineral glaze formula. During the final high-fire reduction, shifting kiln atmospheres fuse the minerals into a glossy, multi-tonal dark green facade that changes with the ambient light, ensuring that no two pitchers emerge with the exact same depth of color.
