Embodying the wordless understanding and shared history that anchors siblings together, this masterfully hand-thrown ceramic mugs serves as a daily reminder of a love that requires no pretense. Raksha Bandhan, at its core, celebrates a rare and quiet sanctuary—the simple comfort of knowing that someone has your back through every unpredictable chapter of life. Built from dense, heavily vitrified stoneware, this piece stands as a tactile tribute to that lifelong anchor, offering a sense of calm consistency every time you hold it.

The silhouette breaks away from traditional shapes, featuring a distinct, slightly taller frame with a gently tapering body that naturally concentrates the warmth and aroma of your brew. It is finished with a subtly flared rim for a smooth pour and an elongated, hand-pulled loop handle meticulously balanced to distribute weight effortlessly, ensuring a reassuring grip during deep, late-night conversations.

The exterior is dressed in a fluid, high-gloss mineral glaze that pools and shifts from an organic forest moss to a dense, stippled olive green. Under ambient light, the intense reduction environment of the kiln causes the green tones to break organically along the structural curves, transforming the edges into a rich, deep iron-bark bronze trim. The non-porous, glassy interior is completely food-safe and stain-resistant, creating a beautiful canvas for rich filter coffee, robust dark roasts, or steaming helpings of spiced masala chai.

Process & Craft

Each mug is handmade by master craftspeople using traditional studio pottery methods, beginning with wheel-thrown forms shaped from unique clay mixes prepared in-house. Natural, mineral-rich glazes are applied by hand, drawing from Japanese Mingei and Korean Buncheong influences that guide the studio’s design sensibility. Fired at nearly 1300°C, the stoneware develops remarkable strength and a glaze surface shaped by the dynamic play of fire, ash, and high-temperature reactions inside the kiln. Every piece is quietly distinct — a reflection of the kiln’s temperament, the hands that shaped it, and the experienced designers who curate its final aesthetic.

Sustainability Practices

Made in serene, low-waste pottery studios that prioritize mindful production. All materials used — clays, glazes, oxides — are natural and non-toxic. High-temperature firing ensures long product life, reducing breakage and replacement cycles. Crafted in small batches to support ethical production and minimize overconsumption. Each mug embodies a slow craft philosophy, valuing longevity over mass production.
