A cornerstone of our SAHA collection, the Moss Hearth Casserole finds its silhouette in the intersection of the traditional Indian handi and the mindful geometry of Japanese craft. It is a form built for the center of the table, designed to anchor the rituals of shared nourishment and familial gathering.

The surface is a meditation on the forest floor, where deep olive tones and umber shadows converge. Through the alchemy of the wood kiln, the glaze develops a 'Lichen' texture—a complex, stippled skin that mirrors the quiet resilience of moss clinging to stone in a shaded grove.

Lifting this lid releases more than steam; it signals an invitation to slow down. The tactile weight of the stoneware and the gentle curve of the handles offer a grounding intimacy, transforming a simple meal into a celebratory pause in a fast-moving world.

Process & Craft

This piece is hand-thrown from high-fire local Indian stoneware clay, selected for its thermal endurance and mineral soul. It underwent a rigorous 20-hour wood-firing at 1300°C. During this time, the melting Casuarina wood ash combined with the clay's minerals, creating natural 'runs' and a unique, vitrified surface that can never be replicated by machine or modern mass-production.
