The stoneware exterior serves as an inviting canvas for loose, spontaneous brushwork. A smooth, high-gloss cream glaze coats the piece, beautifully broken by a delicate sprinkling of dark iron spots that emerge naturally from the clay during the firing. Splashed across the dome and trailing onto the side of the lower basin are sharp, expressive strokes of deep indigo-black slip, resembling stylized feathers or rapid calligraphic marks captured in mid-motion. The spacious interior is fully sealed with a durable, food-safe liner glaze, ensuring a non-porous finish that is incredibly simple to wipe clean.

Process & Craft
The creation of this wide, flat-bottomed server requires an experienced potter's touch to heavily compress the extensive floor of the clay on the wheel, preventing the base from pulling or warping as it dries. Once the shallow drum and its complementary high-domed lid are thrown from local stoneware clay and trimmed to their final profiles, they are bisque-fired to establish a durable structural foundation. The artisan then dips the vitrified vessel into a mineral-rich cream glaze before hand-painting the rapid, abstract motifs using a wide brush charged with concentrated cobalt-iron slip. A final 20-hour reduction firing at 1300°C inside a traditional wood-fired kiln vitrifies the stoneware, forcing the dark brushstrokes to fuse permanently into the glossy white glaze with a unique, smoky bleed.
