The exterior surface acts as a polished canvas for spontaneous, fluid brushwork. Process & Craft
The creation of this voluminous serving piece relies heavily on the potter's ability to balance scale with structural integrity, pulling up a substantial amount of raw stoneware clay on the wheel to form the perfectly symmetrical, wide-bellied bowl. Once the main basin, custom-fitted lid, and hand-pulled handles are formed and assembled at the leather-hard stage, the piece undergoes its first kiln run. The artisan then hand-dips the vitrified stoneware into a mineral-beige base glaze before applying quick, calligraphic sweeps of high-iron cobalt slip using a loose, expressive brush technique. A final journey through a high-temperature wood kiln at 1300°C causes the contrasting glazes to fuse and bleed slightly at the edges, ensuring that no two pieces emerge with the exact same pattern.
