Bringing the cool serenity of a fog-covered mountain lake to your tabletop rituals, this hand-thrown carafe and matching cup set from our Adwai collection is designed for serving warm sake, spirits, or bedside water. The carafe features a beautifully classic, teardrop-shaped base that cinches gently at the neck before flaring outward into a smooth, dripless rim. Accompanying the flask is a complementary handleless cup, contoured with a subtle waist that settles comfortably into the palm of your hand.
The set is covered in a highly complex, semi-gloss mineral finish. A soft powder blue and slate grey glaze wraps the exterior profiles, heavily stippled with a fine, misty spray of lighter minerals that catches ambient light. Near the upper rims, the glaze thins slightly to reveal a glimpse of the underlying iron-rich clay body, creating a warm, toasted border. The interior of both the cup and carafe is coated with a deep, glossy chocolate liner glaze, ensuring a durable, food-safe, and stain-resistant surface that offers a beautiful visual contrast when serving light or clear liquids.
Formed from high-density stoneware clay, this set offers excellent thermal retention, keeping warm refreshments or chilled spirits at their ideal temperature for longer periods during a meal.

Process & Craft
Shaping a narrow-necked carafe requires a steady hand and precise control on the wheel to constrict the spinning walls inward without collapsing the hollow chamber beneath. The matching tumbler is thrown alongside to guarantee proportional harmony in both silhouette and weight. After being sculpted from raw local stoneware clay and allowed to dry to a leather-hard state, both pieces undergo a primary bisque firing. The artisan then dips the set in a mineral-rich titanium and cobalt formula before firing them together at 1300°C for nearly 20 hours inside a traditional wood kiln. The reduction atmosphere causes the micro-minerals to break and fuse into a soft, stippled slate-blue gradient unique to every firing cycle.
