The exterior acts as a minimal canvas for a singular, energetic glaze painting. A smooth, satin-finished beige glaze covers the stoneware body, beautifully specked with fine, toasted iron marks from the raw clay underneath. The front of the jug is dramatically cut by a fluid, hand-painted abstract brushstroke in deep midnight cobalt blue, winding down the belly like an ink ribbon, complemented by a sharp accent mark at the rim. The interior is coated with a glossy, dark chocolate liner glaze that spills slightly over the lip, creating a grounded, multi-layered frame for the artisan’s expressive handiwork.

Process & Craft
Conceived as a meeting point between fluid graphic art and high-fire functional stoneware, this pitcher is individually hand-thrown on the potter's wheel using iron-rich local Indian clay before its structural handle is meticulously pulled and attached. The raw vessel is initial-fired to 1300°C for 20 hours inside a traditional wood kiln to build a resilient, fully vitrified core. Once cooled, the artist applies a base dip of a warm, mineral-beige glaze, which then serves as the canvas for the main event: a fast, intuitive, abstract stroke applied with a saturated cobalt-and-iron slip brush. A final glaze firing permanently melts this deep blue ink-trail into the warm vitreous glaze, giving each finished jug a completely distinct, unrepeatable stamp of the studio.
